Ljubomir Stanisic is Personality of the Year
Chef Ljubomir Stanisic won the “Personality of the Year 2017 in Gastronomy” award, presented by Revista de Vinhos.
In the announcement of the award, Revista de Vinhos highlighted the path of the chef since his arrival in Portugal and, above all, after the opening of the first 100 Maneiras in Lisbon in 2009, followed by the inauguration of Bistro 100 Maneiras, a year later. Among journeys, books, television programs, prizes and distinctions, Ljubo has definitely become a familiar face among the Portuguese when, in 2017, he hosted the Portuguese version of “Kitchen Nightmares”, broadcasted by TVI – the most watched program on Portuguese television in that year. Still in 2017, Bistro 100 Maneiras was number 1 on Monocle’s Restaurant Awards. The “Personality of the Year 2017 in Gastronomy” award was not the first given by Revista de Vinhos to Ljubomir, who two years ago had won the “David Lopes Ramos Gastronomy Award” at the same event.
In this 21st edition, which took place at Alfândega do Porto, awards were also given to Ricardo Costa, “Chef of the Year”, Vasco Coelho Santos, “Revelation Chef of the Year” and Feitoria, “Gastronomic Restaurant of the Year”, among others. Regarding the wines, the great winner was the wine Mouchão Tonel 3-4 2011, elected “Wine of the Year”. He was joined, among others, by Francisco “Vito” Olazabal, from Quinta do Vale Meão, elected “Personality of the Year in Wine”; Luís Sottomayor, from Sogrape, “Winemaker of the Year”, Nuno Gonzalez, Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, “Enologist Revelation of the Year”, Sérgio Marques, Il Gallo d’Oro, “Sommelier / Wine Director of the Year” and Fernando Guedes, from Sogrape, winner of the “Homage” award.
The “Best of the Year” awards by Revista de Vinhos are held annually and aim to distinguish the names in the wine and food world: “in some cases, we praise for consistency, balance, experience, and career; in others, boldness, the will to change and to make different, the daring of a creation distinct from what exists”, explains the director of the publication, Nuno Pires.
