100 Maneiras joins the “Chef of the Year”
It’s official: Vítor Adão, executive chef of 100 Maneiras, is one of the six cooks who will be in the final of the Chef of the Year 2018. The competition, which began 29 years ago, is one of the most important in the industry in our country.
For the national final, the six competitors that obtained the best classification in the regional stages (North / Center, Lisbon and South / Islands) were selected. In these tests, competitors had to cook, live and in front of a jury, an starter, a fish dish, a meat dish, a traditional dish made in the oven or in a pan and a dessert.
Besides Vítor Adão, the final will have the presence of chefs Carlos Gonçalves (Corinthia Lisbon Hotel, Lisbon), Fernando Cardoso (Altis Belém Hotel & Spa, Lisbon), Jorge Fernandes (Hotel Iberostar Lisboa, Lisbon), Pedro Pinto (Vila Vita Parc, Porches) and Tony Martins (Douro Palace Hotel Resort & Spa, Baião).
The next step, for the finalists, is a visit to Norway, at the invitation of Norge, where they will have a new challenge: to present an Amuse Bouche of cod, served in one of the 6 pieces created by artists from the Modern Factory Untable Project.
In the final, scheduled for June 28, in the Arroios Market, competitors will have to re-present the menu created for the competition, taking advantage of the feedback received from the jury in the regional stages. In addition to the title of Chef of the Year 2018, the winner will also receive a check from Makro, worthing € 1,000, a trip to Barcelona with a visit to Estrella Damm Factory and a dinner at Tickets Barcelona, and a trip to the Rational factory in Germany.
