LOVE IS EVERYWHERE AT 100
This February 14, the restaurants of 100 Maneiras group celebrate the most romantic day of the year with three menus designed especially for the occasion. There are “Misses”, “gorditas” and love messages signed with XOXO – without discrimination, celebrating love in all shapes and sizes and in all its forms.
It is a night designed for the more traditional and for the adventurous. For those who prefer love in a “caliente” version and for the ones who see it through a sweeter lens. In the restaurants of 100 Maneiras group, love inspires three different menus, available exclusively on the night of February 14, which promise to make hearts beat faster.
In the old-made-new Bistro 100 Maneiras, which suffered a profound transformation in 2022 that changed not only the rooms but also the food and bar menus, the suggestion is to let yourself be carried away by a menu (95€ per person) that combines some of the restaurant’s classics (such as the Potato skins, the Beet tartare or the Chocolate feast) with new creations like the Scallop ceviche, the Seafood ravioli and bisque and the elegant Pithivier of smoked duck magret and foie gras. All of this joined by a selection of wines (included in the menu), to share in the downstairs room, under the light of more than 100 lamps, overlooking the bar and the windows that tell the story of chef Ljubomir Stanisic, or upstairs, where windows open to the city frame some of Bistro’s favorite tables.
At 100 Maneiras’ tables, the story is different. “A Love Story”, more precisely – this is the name of the 17 course menu (€340 per person) that will be served on the night of February 14 at the restaurant with 1 Michelin star, located at number 39, Rua do Teixeira, in Bairro Alto. Love with an Eastern flavor, featuring the inevitable Welcome to Bosnia (flower-bread, ajvar, kajmak, pasteta and sea “butter”), Miss Sarajevo (scarlet shrimp sarma) and the already a classic The Last Supper (cow head, horseradish, kupus and somun bread), among others. A journey whose starting point is always Lisbon, but which is not shy about looking for inspiration around the world – either on the Orient Express (pickled shallots, baba ganoush and papadum) or on XOXO, The Chef (onion, banana, purslane chimichurri and XO sauce). Dinner at 100 Maneiras includes a flute of champagne and wine pairing, to make the experience complete. Because love should alway to be tasted in full.
In full and with some heat to the mix, in the case of Carnal. At the Mexican gastrobar in Chiado, romance is served “caliente”, with a generous dose of spice for those not afraid to get their hands dirty and lick their fingers in the end. Totopos, guacamole, pico de gallo, salsas verde and roja and chicharrones (pork rinds) kickoff a dinner (65€ per person) which continues with ingredients such as scallops, tuna, octopus, tiger prawns, peppers, kid goat and, obviously, many chiles. Ending on a sweet note, comes the vanilla flan de la abuela – a recipe from chef Luis Ortiz’s grandmother which is probably the most requested dessert at Carnal – and a “happy decadent” Gordita poncha, with clotted cream biscuit, thick caramel sauce and guava ice cream. Wines are also included in the experience, to make sure the “heat” is controlled. At least until you leave the restaurant.
Reservations for Valentine’s dinner are already available by phone, email or online.
