Special menus for the beginning of Autumn
Democratizing dining at top-notch restaurants and exploring, tasting, and celebrating Lisbon for 10 days: this is the motto of the first official edition of Lisbon Insiders Restaurant Week. From October 24th to November 2nd, more than 70 restaurants in the capital will join the initiative, offering prix fixe menus of 25€ or 35€—including Bistro 100 Maneiras and Carnal Gastrobar.
At Bistro, the special Lisbon Insiders Restaurant Week menu will be available for both weekend lunches and dinners from Monday to Sunday. For 35 euros, you can sample a selection of house classics in “Bite-size” format, from the famous potato skins with truffle sauce to beetroot tartar and mushroom salad, as well as a version of Bistro’s iconic burek and bite-sized creations of sirloin with foie gras, spicy octopus and a “Special bite of the day” that changes depending on what arrives in the kitchen. Finally, of course, the happy ending couldn’t be left out – a mini island cheese foam, one of the most famous desserts at number 9 Largo da Trindade. The menu also includes a surprise cocktail, water, and coffee.
A few steps away, at Carnal Gastrobar, Lisbon Insiders Restaurant Week is celebrated with an exclusive menu—with Mexican flavors, of course—and priced at 25 euros per person. Totopos and pico de gallo, guacamole, gringa birria, shrimp, suckling pig and al pastor tacos and the unmissable vanilla flan make up the menu, which also includes a glass of wine, water, and coffee.
These menus can be reserved by phone, email, or online, using Bistro’s and Carnal’s contacts, respectively.
And because the city never sleeps – and neither do we – another event is taking place simultaneously: Lisboa Chefs Week, “a celebration of gastronomy, wine and art,” created by blue Travel magazine, culminating in the 26th edition of Essência do Vinho – Lisboa, at the Lisbon Congress Center (considered Portugal’s premier wine experience). It’s in this context that, from October 27th to November 2nd, a dinner route will take place at some of the city’s most iconic restaurants, featuring exclusive menus paired entirely with Lisbon wines. Bistro will represent the capital’s gastronomy on November 2nd, presenting a menu at lunch and dinner that perfectly captures its essence, including classic dishes (such as Beet Tartar, basil, wasabi and walnuts, or Island cheese foam with guava sorbet), Yugoslavian creations, like the unmissable burek, and more recent creations, such as Wild tiger prawns with garlic butter, smoked lime risotto and chlorophyll and the Rossini loin with foie gras and autumn truffle, truffled potato mille-feuille, grilled lettuce hearts and mustard vinaigrette. The menu is priced at 65 euros per person and includes wine, water and coffee pairings. Reservations for this menu are also already available through Bistro’s usual contacts.
