Bistro in a bite
Bites, Beats and Bar: Bistro’s B-side presents itself in grand style and in small portions. Every day, at any time of day.
Bites
Size doesn’t always matter – that’s what the new Bistro Bites menu proves, a sort of compendium of Bistro’s suggestions, featuring classics and new dishes served in bite-sized portions.
The idea is simple: to allow guests to sample the best Bistro has to offer, without the need to settle for a formal dinner experience. Instead of the traditional starter- main course-dessert experience, here the idea is to let yourself be won over by various “bites”, including Bistro’s classics (such as Potato skins with truffle sauce, Beetroot tartare with basil, wasabi and walnuts, or Spicy octopus with honey and sweet potato puree), daily specials that appear depending on what arrives in the kitchen (such as Bonito tartare, shiso and mustard caviar or Confit Portobello mushrooms), references to national cuisine (in a Bistro version, of course, like the Portuguese stew croquettes with mustard and honey sauce), Bosnian-inspired specialties (did someone say burek?) and desserts (such as the famous cheese foam with guava sorbet or the classic chocolate mousse), which may change daily.
The concept aims to further democratize Bistro and bring more people to this historic restaurant, both during and outside of peak hours. It also serves as a sustainability and creativity strategy, allowing for a constant rotation of seasonal ingredients arriving at the kitchen of number 9 Largo da Trindade, created by Ljubomir Stanisic and overseen by executive chef Manuel Maldonado and head chef Eugeniu Musteata.
These “bites” can be ordered à la carte or sampled as part of a “Blind Date” menu (€35) – a tasting experience composed of 8 bites chosen by the chef (taking into account, of course, tastes, dislikes, and intolerances).
Bar
If, honeys, we shrunk the food, we did the same with the cocktails. With the veteran Jorge Camilo back at the helm of the group’s bars since Spring 2025, it was time to rummage through the past and give it a makeover.
In a “tiny-but-mighty” format, 6 mini-cocktails appear, designed so that, like the Bites menu, those who choose Bistro can take a journey through the flavors of this bar without major hiccups. With 3 classic options – Margarita, Negroni and Daiquiri – and 3 signature cocktails – Red Hot Guava, Rhubarb and Pear – it is possible to order each of these tiny cocktails individually (€7.50 each) or in a tasting of 3 (€19.50).
Beats
Not all news at Bistro come in mini size. With the arrival of the new menus, new late afternoons are also being inaugurated with big DJ sets coming from the heart of Bistro – literally. Once a month, always on Fridays, friends are invited to take control of the turntable. After Henriq (ZB), DJ and producer who played at Bistro on November 7th, comes Switchdance, on December 5th. To listen with a fork and glass in hand. With your feet dangling under the table, of course.
In addition to all these novelties, Bistro’s a la carte menu and the special lunch menus “Back to Portugal” (Saturday) and “Back to Bosnia” (Sunday) are still available. At the bar, along with the new mini-cocktails, the “Back to the Future” cocktail menu remains, as well as a good selection of classic and historical cocktails from Bistro.
