Bistro turns 14
It’s been 14 years of Bistro 100 Maneiras. 14 years of history written at the tables and beyond, on the walls covered in art, at events, in books.14 years which are celebrated by looking ahead, to the future, imagining paths and possibilities. With special gifts for those who want to be a part of the party. Because the future may be admirable but there is no time like the present.
On September 22, 2024, Bistro 100 Maneiras celebrates its 14th anniversary. The oldest restaurant in the group will always be the “kid” of this family, embedded with funk spirit, irreverence, and boldness. A restaurant located at number 9 of Largo da Trindade, in an Art Deco-inspired building with panels by Paulo Guilherme d’Eça Leal, which once housed Tavares Pobre and Bachus, references in the city, and where art and gastronomy, music and cocktails, memory and contemporaneity coexist. A home for the most conservative and the most eccentric.
There are many bistrôs, but Bistro 100 Maneiras is just this one. The one which, in 2017, was No. 1 in the world at the Monocle Restaurant Awards and won the Coaster Award for Best Bar in a Restaurant in Portugal – and the same title, in 2019 and again in 2022, at the Lisbon Bar Show Awards. The same which, in 2021, received a visit from the great Anthony Bourdain, forever becoming part of the “No Reservations” episode dedicated to the city of Lisbon. The Bistro that hosted events linked to wine, cinema, products and art. Which was the incubator of two books – “100 Cocktails 100 Maneiras”, published in 2015, and “Bistromania, No Bistro como em Casa”, in 2018. Which was reinvented in 2022, completely changing the decoration, the menus, the image – without ever losing its essence and a certain modern, funky classicism.
On this 14th anniversary, we celebrate all of this, but also what is yet to come. Questioning, wondering: what will the world, restaurants and people look like in a thousand years? That was the question we asked, throughout the month of September, on Bistro 100 Maneiras’ social media. Imagining, with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the food, cocktails, spaces and people of the future, under the hashtag #bistroin3024 (including a Ljubomir Stanisic with futuristic tattoos, David Beckham hair and an accent from across the Atlantic , communicating directly from the Rio de Janeiro space station, where in 2024, apparently, he’s recording “Hell’s Kitchen Celebrities – Famous Robots Edition“).
A gift for the future was also what Bistro decided to offer its clients. Anyone who comes to have lunch or dinner at Bistro on 09/22/2024, the day of its 14th birthday, will receive a voucher worth 14% of the total bill, to be used over the next 6 months. The voucher also includes one Neverland cocktail, made with Hendrick’s Neptunia, per person, to be enjoyed on the same visit in which the voucher is used.
Until September 30th, a Bistro Turns 14 Special Voucher is also available, with a cost of 120 euros, including a menu for two people: couvert, 3 starters to share, 1 main dish per person, 2 desserts to share, 1 Neverland cocktail (with Hendrick’s Neptunia) per person, sparkling, white and red wine, dessert wine, water and coffee.
